Fixel is a grotesque sans serif typeface that embodies ‘human touch’ though it belongs to the grotesque kind. The design is rooted in the geometric grotesques family but also contains specific humanist elements; at the same time, the communication is not only serious and responsible but also playful. On the whole, it is clear and concise font that is perfect for readability, but if one looks closer one can distinguish the peculiarities like the letter “a” and “g” MacPaw, the owner of the font has mentioned.
Not only that, some of the letters are added with alternatives which are more playful And that gives the font a more human, and warm character. MacPaw shares that the actual name of the Fixel font is inspired by their own cat and they simply had to use it for the font’s name. Fixel accompanies the text and display style with the difference in the kerning and letter width only. Moreover, the strokes of each style include up to 9 weights ranging from thin to black.
